SketchFest Day Three

Hi there! Sorry I’m a little late with Day Three, but I was hungover all day yesterday. Yeah, well, you’re the one with the problem. Let’s get right to it. Where do I start? I wish I could say that it was a success, but every show suffered from some kind of problem.

Case in point: The first group, Elephant Larry, seemed to be missing several members. Strangely, it was different members at different times. Some of their sketches involved only 2 or 3 of the full group, then the lights would go down and come back up to reveal different members on stage. Odd.

Flaming Box of Stuff was up next, and they used all of their members, but only one them ever spoke. The other members occupied themselves, and the audience’s time, by playing Boggle, or changing printer toner, or just walking in a circle.

Once Flaming Box had finished, the Third Floor performed an abbreviated version of their show during the break in between shows, with the curtain closed. During their official slot, several members of the crowd got up on stage and performed charades, which delighted the elderly portion of the audience.

The Royal We seized their opportunity to address the elderlies on the rising costs of health care. A local news crew stopped by to film it for an upcoming episode of “Town Meeting”, which will be aired on KCTS channel 12 on October 30 at 8pm. I can tape it if anyone needs a copy.

After the Royal We had finished, things picked up at the ice cream social, where we all made a giant sundae to donate to Salvation Army, fulfilling SketchFest’s tiresome community obligations. After the Sketch Den closed at 2 am, many people drove drunk to various casinos in the greater Seattle area. At last count, at least one out-of-town sketch comedian was still being held by authorities.

I sure can’t wait for next weekend! It all starts again in three days!

And by the way, all other blogs about SketchFest are fascist. Stick with this one. Bye!
