“You got sketch in my Internet!”
“You got Internet on my sketch!”
Two great tastes that share a TCP/IP Protocol together.
Yes, perennial web time-waster JibJab has announced “The Great Sketch Experiment,” a competition where six “indie comedy groups” are chosen to have select sketches directed by legendary director of Animal House, Trading Places and The Blues Brothers, John Landis. At stake are $10,000 and a development deal with JibJab.
And the winner is chosen by … erm … (looks left, looks right) … you!
It’s no small point of pride for SketchFest Seattle that out of the six participating troupes, three are former fest attendees Karla, Riegel & Blatt, and Elephant Larry and one is local troupe and friends-to-the-festival Train of Thought. Keep an eye-out, too, for brief cameos by our sketch-friends from TROOP! and Ten West!
The Great Sketch Experiment has been catching some rather high-profile attention, too, including a spot on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Congrats and good luck to all participating!
Sketchfans, register with JibJab and vote for your favorite today!
We’re all excited about this at festival HQ, and think that this first of what we hope are many Great Sketch Experiments can mean only good things for this Great Sketch-In-Practice we call SketchFest.
More to come …
